Quilt Along Catch-Up

Whew! I have a lot of catching up to do. Amanda has posted the block #11 already and I'm only up to number six. Above are numbers five and six together. I am running out of scraps of my original fabric so I'm going to have to break into the stash and find something else that works with these colors. This has been fun! Too bad I'm so far behind.

Walking along...

Back Again

Hello there! I apologize for disappearing for a while there. Two weeks ago I went to a conference for work and came back with a nasty virus that had me flat on my back for two days. When I finally emerged from my bedroom two Sundays ago with my fever and chills having gone (hallelujah!), I picked up my son and threw out my back! The rest of that evening was spent lying in the hallway with my feet up and my back on a heating pad. Thank goodness my Mom and Dad were there and Mom read some Jeeves stories (by P.G. Wodehouse) aloud and made me laugh which hurt my back even more. It was worth it.

I finally feel slightly human again and am ready to craft, work and share photos. Above is me at the conference, pre-virus, hugging a giant furkin! The booth worker in the background doesn't look to happy, but he should be! Anyone who gets to hang out with an enormous furkin all day should be automatically ecstatic. Also in this picture you'll see the Amy Butler High Street Messenger bag I made out of some fabric I got for Christmas - an Amy Butler print and some chocolate corduroy. I wouldn't recommend using fabric that is too thick (like corduroy) since I had a very difficult time sewing all the parts together and broke a needle (and some skin).

Could I be any more happy with my AB bag and the giant furkin? I say "no."

Stay tuned for more pics on WIPs as well as my catch-up for the quilt-a-long. I am so very far behind that I may just finish all of these right before week 12 is up!

Double-Sided Cable Knit Scarf

Done! Acutally, it's been finished for a couple of weeks now, but I haven't been able to get a good photo of it until now. It gets dark early 'round these parts! Sweet hubby loves his new scarf and is excited to have one to use before winter is over.

Confusion and Catch-up

How many of you are caught up on your quilt-a-long quilt blocks? Sadly, I have four to do ... FOUR! After the whirlwind of the holidays, my body just shut down and wanted to be lazy. If I have gotten a moment to myself, I'll usually just lounge in a chair and knit or lay down.

Well, yesterday I decided that enough was enough. There were too many WIPs in my sewing room that needed my attention. One of them is this great messenger bag that I am very excited to do. There are so many zips, pockets and compartments to this thing though, that I'm forced to label every piece. I am still afraid that I'm going to cut something wrong or mess something up.

I'll keep you all posted! In the meantime, I need to start cutting those blocks and get caught up. Good luck everyone!

Obsession

That is the only word I can think of when it comes to this cute little hat. I had some leftover yarn from two different projects and I thought that I would try my hand at some colorwork in the form of a baby hat. Wow! Was this ever easy and it went so fast. I feel like these projects are really satisfying because I have something completed in a couple of days.

In a couple of days that is, if you are obsessed [insert eerie organ music here].

Hmmm.... now all I need to do is clean, some laundry, sleep.

[Yawn] Still on the path...

Christmas Presents ... Revealed.

I promised that I would share my presents with you and here they are! Well, these are the ones that would be of interest to you anyway. Do you really want to see the Peanut M&M stocking stuffers?

Anyway, above is my cherished collection of fabric given to me by a lot of sweet people. I am so overwhelmed right now that all I can do is just sit and look at the bright patterns and finger the well-made fabric. I do have some ideas of what this will all turn into and maybe I'll be making this first. I also received a copy of this great book! Be sure to pick yours up today - I love mine. If you've visited this blog before, you'll know that I received my best Christmas gift early from my sweet hubby: the sewing machine.

Now that I have enough fabric to sufficiently line my stash nest, I really should be catching up on this. Don't worry, there will be more quilt blocks coming Amanda! Hey, after the holidays, you really should be getting to work on yours.

Out With the Old...

In with the new!

New Year's Resolution: Must use the handknits. (i.e. Must actually finish a handknit and then use it.)

Happy New Year and happy creating!
